Get to know the “PWRRUN” foam family – the top-tier innovation from SAUCONY !!!

Foam is the core material in modern running shoe midsoles, acting like the engine of the shoe; it absorbs impact, returns energy to help runners gain speed, and ensures the shoes perform at their best. Here at Saucony, we use several types of foam across our various running shoe models. Let’s take a look at what they are.

Starting with the brand’s top-of-the-line flagship, “PWRRUN HG” (PowerRun HG). PWRRUN HG is Saucony’s most premium foam to date. It is a non-beaded PEBA superfoam, which already outperforms all other foams in terms of energy return. Currently, this foam is used in its full-length form only in the Endorphin Elite, and it is also featured (as part of the midsole) in the Endorphin Pro 4, which is set to launch in Thailand soon.

Next is the high-performance contender, “PWRRUN PB” (PowerRun PB). PWRRUN PB is Saucony’s star foam, made from beaded PEBA polymers. Compared to standard EVA foam, PWRRUN PB is half the weight, provides 88% energy return, performs well across various temperatures, and offers better durability than regular EVA. Because of these superfoam properties, PWRRUN PB is used in shoes designed for high responsiveness and energy return, such as the Endorphin series (Endorphin Pro 3, Endorphin Speed 3) as well as the Kinvara Pro (where it is used as part of the midsole).

The next foam is “PWRRUN+” (PowerRun Plus). PWRRUN+ is a TPU-based foam that has been specially formulated with a lower density to provide increased softness and reduced weight while maintaining excellent shock absorption. It is a foam that hits all six key factors of a great material: propulsion, responsiveness, pressure reduction, energy return, durability, and weight. PWRRUN+ is typically used in models that require high-level cushioning and ultimate comfort, such as the Triumph 21 and the Ride 17, which is soon to be released in Thailand.

The final foam type has been a staple in Saucony running shoes for a long time: “PWRRUN” (PowerRun). PWRRUN is an EVA-based foam that provides reliable cushioning, bounce, and durability. It is suitable for everyday shoes, offering a balanced feel—not too soft, not too firm, and perfectly agile. Models that use PWRRUN include the Kinvara 14, a long-time Saucony favorite that fans are well-acquainted with, and the Guide 17, which is also set to hit the market in Thailand soon.
