Founded in 1984, TEVA originated in the Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA. The brand's founder, Mark Thatcher, came up with the idea for Teva sandals while working as a river guide, discovering that "there was no footwear for water activities." Sneakers were too heavy when wet, and regular flip-flops easily slipped off the feet.

This led to the birth of TEVA, the world's first brand of sports sandals!!! The name "Teva" is Hebrew for "nature," which fits the brand's DNA perfectly—both as a #lifestyle and #adventure brand, as well as its support for environmental conservation, with TEVA sandal straps being made from 100% recycled plastic since 2020.
